Ball sports can benefit a child's development

Learning how to play a variety of ball games / sports is an ideal way to keep children fit.  From soccer and rugby to cricket, tennis and netball – children can run for miles without even noticing, because their mind is focused on the action and not the physical exertion.

So, what are the benefits of ball sports clubs?
  • Improve coordination and timing
  • Help your children to maintain a good level of fitness and a sensible weight
  • Learn life skills – handling victories and defeats, making friends and working with a team towards a common goal
  • Encourage confidence and improve social skills
  • Promoting concentration
Every child is different

Every child has different natural abilities. Some are able to kick and catch with little effort, whilst others find it slightly more tricky.  Don’t worry if your child isn’t a natural ball player. Most children will learn new skills as long as they are comfortable in their environment and are encouraged gently. Professional coaches are trained to help children take small steps to learn the basic skills required to assist children in building their confidence.

Children also grow and gain different motor skills at different rates. It is not unusual for a child who was a weak player at the age of seven to eventually develop into one of the best in the team by the age of 14.

Try not to encourage them into a sport that you prefer. Ask your child what interests them, and if they are not sure, the best way to work out what suits them best is to enrol them into a school holiday program which covers several ball sports during its duration.
