Week One: Animate, Design & Create

DATES & TIMES
Monday 9 January – Friday 13 January
9.30am – 4pm each day

Join us at NAS these holidays to choose your own adventure, give objects new life, have fun with clay, make your own original shirt, and draw with light. Each day brings a new and exciting opportunity to explore art.

Program includes:

  • Animation Adventures
    • Bring your drawings to life in this animation workshop! Working in the NAS drawing and digital studios you’ll learn about stop-motion animation and storyboarding to create your own adventure short story.
  • Crazy Critters
    • Create your own colourful bugs in this workshop using found objects. Work with unique combinations of shape, colour and line to bring your bug army to life.
  • Funky Forms
    • Create your own wonderfully wobbly and wacky forms in the ceramics workshop. Using hand building techniques including pinch, slab, and coil to create your own vessels that are unique! The objects will be fired for collection at a later date.
  • Graphic Tees
    • Who can build the tallest or wackiest skyscraper? Try this challenge and more as you work together with your fellow architects and engineers to build a futuristic city. Use simple materials like paper, cardboard, wire, glue, paint, and tape to build shapes and forms from the ground up – making sure your sculpture is strong enough to stand on its own!
  • Drawing with Light
    • Explore drawing with light in this exciting new workshop! Create your own unique light installations using torches, glow sticks, fairy lights and more. Learn about long exposure and low light photography to capture your amazing work on camera.

Week Two: Summertime Adventures

Join us at NAS these holidays to get creative and explore underwater worlds, futuristic cities and much more! Each day brings a new and exciting opportunity to explore art.

Program includes:

  • Oceanic Watercolours
    • Create your own watercolour aquarium these School Holidays. You will explore different watercolour techniques through drawing and painting your favourite underwater animals. You could explore the colour reefs or the depths Mariana Trench. The possibilities are endless!
  • Natural Wonders
    • Take inspiration from the coastal world to create your own natural wonder. You might make our own coral reef, a rock pool, crustaceans and more! Using hand building techniques including pinch. Slab and coil, watch your coastal creation come to life in the studio.
  • Portraits and Personalities
    • What would your portrait say about you? Using a variety of drawing techniques, you will explore anatomy, tone, proportion and more. You will investigate different styles of portraiture throughout history from the realistic to the abstract and gain an understanding of what contemporary portraiture can be.
  • Futuristic Cities

  • Painterly Prints
    • Create your own unique prints with monotypes! Using a variety of painterly techniques, you will create your own unique images. Layer and experiment with a range of shapes, colours, textures, and patterns to create a series of interesting artworks.
